Why I'm giving Martin O'Malley a good look.
One simple reason. The animosity and personal attacks of people at DU on both sides of the Hillary versus Bernie discussions.
Where a candidate stands on the issues is obviously very important to me. But I also feel we need to communicate more effectively with each other. Yes, be passionate. But also, be more civil in tone, less obnoxious on a personal level.
I am fed up with the infighting here and grudges and personality conflicts that seem to go back years ago, that I either don't understand or care about. Some folks here at DU, it seems that every other post involves either a perceived slight or a wild exaggeration. Histrionics doesn't cut it for me.
We need to all live in the present as best we can. Take responsibility for our thoughts, deeds, words and actions as best we can. Going back to Baltimore and apologizing and listening and vowing to become better from that listening. That goes a very long way with me, toward saying this is a man who is strong enough to apologize. Strong enough to take responsibility and listen and learn.
I like President Obama. I feel he's the best President in my lifetime. I don't go much for anyone who trashes him incessantly. I feel we need to capitalize on his Administration's great successes, and keep moving forward.
That's why I'm taking a good strong look at Martin O'Malley. So far I am very much liking what I'm seeing.
