Related: About this forumMy First Organic Med Grow
I'm in the planning stages.
Probably will happen after the weather cools in late October or November and hopefully after some rainfall because I collect it in a 200 gallon barrel for watering my meds. No chloramine and low PPM.
I am a very small-time grower for personal medical use in a legal state.
My setup (for others to get ideas):
3'x3'x7' Gorilla Tent
6" HyperFan
Two Sun Blaze® T5 HO 24's
Sun System® LEC® Brand 315 Watt Fixture
3 gallon Root Trapper II fabric pots
Fox Farms Coco Loco
Kind Soil
Mephisto Genetics (seeds)
I like Autoflowers because they finish quick, are potent, and have gotten real good over the years.
I'll probably mix some worm castings into the Roots soil prior to using and of course with 2.5 lbs of Kind Soil at the bottom of each container. Maybe I'll add some blood meal, green sand, and more perlite also to the Roots Organics soil.
Gotta be careful with Autos however as they can burn in too rich of soil.
This is a "water only" type grow. No added nutes needed although I may add compost tea now and then or get me some Recharge or both.
I plan to start them in the RT containers they will grow in (important with Autos).
They will get the SunBlaze T5HO light for their first 3 or 4 weeks at a 20 on and 4 off light schedule (20/4). Then I will switch over and they will get the 315W LEC at an 18/6 schedule. I'm trying to save electricity a bit here as my rates are sky high or I'd go with the LEC from the start at 20/4.
I pull the air into my tent via ducting and two cardboard boxes with 12" x 12" HVAC filters attached. Keeps it clean in the grow space.
I'm looking at growing 4 total (if they fit...LOL). 2 - Hubbabubbasmelloscopes and 2 - Chem City Blues.
I expect 60 to 80 days from seed to finish as with most Autoflowers.

(10,784 posts)Using the bending techniques employed I tripled my bud output.
I use the LST (low stress training) in a compact area it is a great way to get much more.
Don't know about auto flowering tho I think they have ways to do it.

I have a 4x4x7 grow tent. Good way to keep equal light on the plants for uniform bud growth. Plus make the plants fit into the height space I have.
even when Maryland gets its medical up and running will be "strictly prohibited."

(27,275 posts)especially Autoflowers and Mephisto Genetics... they're new to me. Roots soil is the best, in my opinion.

(27,275 posts)and when we transplant, we use mix in some Roots Greenfields with nutrients. Water runs right though the Greenfields, so that's why we mix it. Never have tried Kind Soil and I just learned about autos from you.. always something new.. also the seed place. wow.

(28,136 posts)I like autos because I don't need to be tied down to a long 4 or 5 month grow and autos produce enough for me.
My last grow was done in 53 days from seed.

(27,275 posts)he said "no way." I said, way! autoflower.net.. I've bookmarked it and just got started. Thanks! Can't believe we haven't found it sooner. Being in Colorado, with legal weed getting cheaper every day, we considered giving up growing, but seed to flower in 60 days or less is right up our ally and I enjoy growing. We're using florescent lights and I'd like to make the investment into LED. Do you think it's worth it?
SHRED
(28,136 posts)My opinion is that good LED lights are pretty expensive. There are many cheap ones on the market like Mars. I had a Mars Hydro II 900W. The rating was deceiving as it drew about 400 watts from the wall. I'd stay away from cheap Chinese lights.
I have made the switch to LEC and I'm not looking back. I think the light spectrum and intensity are fantastic with the LEC. See my OP for a link. It does get hotter than even COB LED lighting I believe but not as hot as HPS/MH bulbs.
Lots of LED info on autoflower.net.

(27,275 posts)in fact all your links. Thanks. We're finishing our grow now, with 5 more to harvest. Giving everything a good cleaning and starting over in a couple of months with autoflower as our guide. I'll keep you posted. I'd love to start in November, harvest in January, and hit the road for warmer climates.

(28,136 posts)They do need less nutrients and no topping. They go so fast don't slow them with topping it'll hurt the yield.

(15,882 posts)those in power, in the legal state of WA, so they can sell it in their stores. They don't care about sick people here as much as they do revenue.
Had to do with the latest change in laws to help out Microsoft and their other corporate donors that are moving into the field. I guess the state figures it can get fees from black and poor folks in jail, the rest can pay their usurious taxes.
These bastards hurt a lot of people, blocked access to their meds and are still arresting black folks in Seattle.
It won't be forgotten when they send out the ballots. Somebody asked how best to get votes the other day. The answer is always the same - quit asking for help and start offering some.

How Washington State Screwed Over Its Medical Marijuana Dispensaries - AND PATIENTS
But there's another aspect that should trouble patients, though few may know about it. Thanks to a loophole in the state's licensing process, many longtime dispensary operations were shut out of the recreational market. New actors were able to game the system by buying pay stubs from former medical marijuana dispensary employees in order to bolster their applications.
"[The state was] supposed to create new licenses to move over the [medical marijuana] system so that the patients could be served," said John Davis, owner of the Northwest Patient Resource Center, who applied for but did not receive an I-502 license. "That's not what they did. They were just giving licenses to people who were scamming the system."

(12,441 posts)Here in Eugene, so many people are growing in their back yards that they are giving the stuff away. Hard to find enough takers - everybody already has all they can handle. Just like zucchini - leave a bag on the porch, ring the doorbell and run away. And don't leave your car with the windows down. Somebody riding by on a bike will toss a bag in.

Turned out great anyway. 3X3X7 crooked wood box. Cheap LED and left it on 24,7 begining to end. 2 plants and about 2 years worth of strong meds.

(15,882 posts)I am working on getting it bigger, turn it into an additional income stream.
They will eat almost anything that was organic to start with, though onions, citrus, and meat should not be fed indoors - takes too long to rot. Produce stands and stores throw enough away for most small growers, and they like USED coffee gtrounds. You can buy worm food from purina, which is mostly corn flour, calcium, some vitamins, ground up very fine, not very expensive, for a boost.
I collect, microwave, and grind up eggshells to a find powder, that provides them with grit to grind their food. Aged horse manure - so they don't burn up - provides not only bedding but food, and is free in many places.
Any rinds of cantaloupe, watermelon, leaves, etc go into a bag and are frozen for a few days, then either buried (reduces smell) or put out in a compost pile - I then feed finished compost to the bin, and they break it down and turn it into useful fertilizer and humus.
I too was giving away some flower, but this also makes a timely gift, one more thing they don't have to buy. Especially here, as growing has become a much more reliable way of getting your meds. So until the fascists are out of power at the state level, the fact that they can't check every closet in the state every 4 months works to ones advantage, one I have used for over 40 years.

I changed it up a bit from my original specs. I'm didn't use the T5HO lights. Went straight for the LEC.
I added the humidifier. Normally not needed but we've hit a dry spell.

(28,136 posts)The idea here is to spur side branch growth to maximize bud (flower) sites.
Very low stress. No cutting.
I run 4 sessions 8 hours each time during lights on.
It's making a difference so far.
I use pipe cleaner type wire that is soft. Gently pull up the bigger leaves at the top and bundle then gently with the wire.
It's my first attempt so I'm a bit nervous.
The two middle plants... it's their 4th night.
The others their first.
Bushier bushes make me...
