on the pot side. Taxes raised by marijuana sales eclipsed those collected on alcohol sales. Yet, the costs of enforcing drunk driving laws, alcohol related incidents requiring law enforcement, social service program requirements, imprisonment of people awaiting trial or convicted of alcohol related crimes, not to mention the enormous costs of health problems and lost time on the job go on and on.
Alcohol taxes could not come close the actual costs alcohol consumption imposes on society and pot smokers are paying more in taxes and lowering the government costs of marijuana consumption.
Go figure.
