I was in Denver last week and visited several recreational dispensaries, mostly in the Aurora area. The recreational competition is fierce in Denver, and the prices are dropping. In fact, an owner of Sweet Leaf told me that starting Aug 1, they were going to begin selling quarter ounces for $40! That's $160 or less for a full ounce! Of top-quality leaf!!
Unfortunately, I flew out of Denver Aug 1 and could not take advantage.
My experience in Telluride was much different. Not much competition up there and prices as high as the altitude. Pueblo is about the same. We are going to be establishing residence in CO in 2016 after we retire and Denver will be the place to be. We will be looking closely to see where we can join the green revolution.

(3,194 posts)Is there not much competition due to regulations and limits in those cities? It would seem like there would be investors eager to tap into those locations due to lack of competition, at least for the moment.

(9,669 posts)Telluride is very small and probably just cannot support more than they already have.
In Pueblo, there has been a lot of local opposition to the dispensaries and they are mostly kept out of Pueblo proper. Most seem concentrated in Pueblo West. Several of them are clustered together just north of highway 50 but they don't seem too eager to start any price wars.
Screw 'em. Denver's got it all.

(8,022 posts)Going soon to enjoy recreational aspects and hard as hell to find a 420 friendly place that is below $300 night .....
Most hotels offer no areas to smoke or vape and have policies that will kick you out.
Found a room at the Nativ Hotel. $300 + night after taxes.
Actually kind of surprised that there isn't anyway to filter of ask without calling every one of them.
Anyplace I should check out while I am there? Got a car for one night so We can explore
areas nearby..

(3,194 posts)Filter the listings to find a place that allows smoking. Read the profile to confirm, but there should be some options open at much less than $300/night. That's insane.

I didn't bother with a smoking hotel, just plunked down in the La Quinta in Aurora because I had enough points built up to get two free nights. Just didn't smoke in the room. That La Quinta is a total dump. Won't be staying there again.
My fave dispensaries were Good Chemistry and Sweet Leaf, both in Aurora.
