Ysterdays multi-agency marijuana raid at Island Mountain was aimed and directed at people currently active in the political action group California Cannabis Voice-Humboldt (CCVH), the groups executive director, Richard Marks, confirmed this morning. While Marks declined to identify the people impacted by the raid, he suggested they were central to the groups management. There might be some heavy restructuring going on in this organization, he said. The multi-site raid, conducted by members of the Humboldt, Trinity and Mendocino county sheriffs offices, was expected to yield as much as 100,000 plants, according to early reports. And a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriffs Office said deputies expected to find situations of water diversion, water theft and environment degradation. But as of this morning only 8,000 plants had been eradicated, a far difference from the earliest reports. Marks, however, suggested that law enforcement was targeting the wrong people. Im waiting to hear more from Sheriffs Department on why they decided to target private [property] owners, he said. We have been more than public and vocal that were against trespass grows, water diversions, pesticide use and illegal grading of properties. And we would applaud the Sheriffs Office to continue those efforts to eradicate those farms. But why they decided to choose private property owners that were trying to come into compliance were a little bit disappointed. Marks said CCVH leadership is nervous.

(23,867 posts)Although I don't care who they are, I'm just repeating what I've seen and heard.
I remember being in a remote place in Mendocino back in 1992, and the property I was going to look at had just been raided, and they had killed a guy. Pretty scary stuff. I'm not even sure who I'm more afraid of. Although I do have a friend in a place very close to Island mountain, and he's had guys threaten him. But he's so good at getting along that they don't bother him after a single confrontation.
I never thought I'd see stuff like this, coming from the Bay Area.

(3,569 posts)These guys were super duper legal and compliant. What this does is take a big chunck of money out legalization efforst and other cannabis related casues.
We saw the same thing with Richard Lee who spent a million dollars to promote a legalization bill in 2008. They busted him so he could no longer do that. Same thing here.
