My crappy poem to Woo Me With Science:
Woo! Woo! Where are you! You're needed for the Populist coup!
We are blue, 'cos we miss you!
Please come back, oh dearest Woo!
--
Crappy poem aside, Woo Me With Science has been AWOL for one month as of today, since getting a "flagged for review" that took a few days to resolve. Like my own recent "flagged for review" that took a few days to resolve. Some are resolved in days, some in only a few hours, for reasons unknown.
It's a mystery.
In any case, if you're reading this Woo: you are missed. You're one of the most informative and clear writers on DU, and I hope you come back soon. And if anyone knows what's up with Woo, and can share... please do!
Thanks!

Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 21 January 1950),[1] who used the pen name George Orwell, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist and critic. His work is marked by lucid prose, awareness of social injustice, opposition to totalitarianism, and outspoken support of democratic socialism.[2][3]
Orwell wrote literary criticism, poetry, fiction, and polemical journalism. He is perhaps best known for his dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949) and the allegorical novella Animal Farm (1945). His non-fiction works, including The Road to Wigan Pier (1937), documenting his experience of working class life in the north of England, and Homage to Catalonia (1938), an account of his experiences in the Spanish Civil War, are widely acclaimed, as are his essays on politics, literature, language, and culture. In 2008, The Times ranked him second on a list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".[4]
Orwell's work continues to influence popular and political culture, and the term Orwelliandescriptive of totalitarian or authoritarian social practiceshas entered the language together with many of his neologisms, including, but not limited to, cold war, Big Brother, Thought Police, Room 101, Memory hole, doublethink, and thoughtcrime.[5]

(57,936 posts)I do not believe in removing posts or DUers just because I disagree with their opinions unless the opinions clearly could not possibly represent Democratic Party ideas.
That said, maybe we could be kinder to each other.
And also, maybe we could practice a little humility and compassion and develop our senses of humor here on DU.
One trick: Before you post, take a slow deep breath and then re-read your post. Take out things you know you should not write. It is so easy to have our emotions carry us away. But we need to have calm, helpful discussions, not emotional tantrums.
Can you tell I have been babysitting my under five years grandchildren recently?
No tantrums please. Learn to count to ten and breathe deeply.

(17,997 posts)But I think maybe 1 in 20 alerts should have been alerted. .that damn button is used much too often.
If people can't deal with anything more than "yes, you are so right" they need to find an entirely different kind of site.
Being nasty, causing drama, etc is obviously not the way to go about pushing for your candidate or showing how the other falls short. But we do have ignore options, we are also adults who are passionate about our country.
But I find that the alert stalking the absolute the lowest, most childish, form of fighting. That goes for cali,1SBM and most especially, woo.

Kudos to whoever drove 1SBM off this board. You won, you must be proud. He is taking a break and may not return. Heaven05 is doing the same. Both AA. 1Strong attacked by an outside member in the AA group and got a hide. Then while he was flagged and could not defend himself, he was attacked again in that group.
Marym, this place has gotten so very ugly. Our future has become less bright and I find that sad.
Thank you for supporting him.

AA is treated poorly here. We only have a handful of posters left from the black community.
Start here. Then read down, it goes on. 1Strongs concerns are called a meme. I find it sad that when a person questions a candidate on valid concerns that effect their very lives, it is now called a meme by posters here. Then he got 2 hides and flagged for review.

(3,748 posts)This targeting of thoughtful posters for the most dubious alert reason ("Oh, another post that's 'over the top'?) has got to end. Sad to hear that 1SBM took it in the shorts, too.

Dirty language: Nope

Gee, can someone tell me what actual part of the TOS was violated, if the TOS actually means anything anymore?
This was a hit, a pure outright hit. I will vote for a dead cat rather that not fail to KEEP the GOP out of office. I am a yellow dog democrat, made even more so by 2000. However, some Hillary supporters have made it clear that they neither want nor need the help of the left, so if they ask for anything more than my vote, the door will be closed.
Failing to keep the GOP out of the Oval office is not an option, not when Tony Scalia is still in the supreme court, waiting for some young 40-something judge to be rubber stamped thanks to the Koch Brothers, so that his legacy is secure for the next 20 years. Not when we have a congress that might as well be musicians playing to the conductor's tune, and a bunch of yahoos thirsty for blood to stain their nice white sheet costumes. However, many of us have illusions that Hillary, or at least those who claim to support her, will work any less hard to destroy the legacy of FDR. Wear the Roosevelt legacy all you want to folks, but Frank and Elanor would have no problem calling this huckstering out for what it is, and yes, Frank would welcome your hatred.
