NY Times: Could Another Democrat Beat Hillary Clinton? Strategists Offer a Blueprint
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/01/us/politics/could-another-democrat-beat-hillary-clinton-strategists-offer-a-blueprint.html?ref=politics&_r=0"She has been called inevitable. The cant-be-stopped candidate. Hillary Rodham Clinton is such an overwhelming favorite in presidential primary polls that most prominent Democrats are taking a pass on challenging her.
But politics can be an unpredictable business, and those of us covering the campaign have been wondering: Is there any way a Democratic challenger could beat Hillary Rodham Clinton?
We asked three of the smartest Democratic strategists we know to imagine this situation: You are running the campaign of a liberal Democrat against Mrs. Clinton. You have $50 million to spend. What is your message? How do you run against her?
The strategists agreed to sketch out a blueprint anonymously, so as not to anger Mrs. Clinton. Some common themes immediately emerged."

I suspect they will be the first to report WMDs in Iran just like they did in Iraq

(55,981 posts)of our government. Whether or not the NY Times or half dozen so-called experts think we can defeat the corporate candidate for the Democratic challenger doesn't matter because we have to try.
The Powers That Be have manipulated us into a situation where the Republicons are so horrible that the non-progressives will settle for H. Clinton-Sachs. We can do better, we must do better.

(10,622 posts)We have to fight, win or lose and keep on fighting over and over again until we either get back to a representative government that is helpful rather than harmful to it's population, or they finalize their fascism and we are shot on our last attempts to stop them.
Things are getting critical in my area (as I am sure they are most other places), poverty is spreading fast as well as people getting evicted with nowhere to go, this is not a joke to some of us or a "wish for something nice, like a pony or an xbox" it is survival. More would be posted about this here but most of my financial peers are too busy trying to keep a roof overhead and food on the table if they even can afford computers or a connection to spend time posting here.
Unfortunately, to the remaining middle class white collar people and those not yet sweating actual survival it is more akin to a game of football that you and I and other first way Democrats are spoiling for them.
Comfort makes cowards of so many and hypocrites out of so many more. One thing I will say, many progressives that post here are comfortable, and are middle class, and they are neither hypocrites nor heartless, but rather fighting for the least of us, along side people like me, they remind me that good people can still be found everywhere, were it not for evidence of their existence on this site my cynicism and bitterness would haven devoured me years ago.
Fuck the GOP, fuck their half brothers the third way, and fuck the .01% psycopaths sideways with a jackhammer.
Someday, when I get angry, I'll tell you how I really feel.

(55,981 posts)money and power. They don't heed warning about killing the goose, but there should be some financial elitists, like the Roosevelts, that will recognize that killing the middle class is like killing the goose.

(85,373 posts)THEN we can start talking about a competitive primary to select a candidate who can beat anyone, including Jeb and his hanging chads...

(10,622 posts)(as appears to be true of our Democratic leadership that runs R-lite issues and candidates for record losses), but I honestly doubt she can beat the GOP candidate, it's not that people that want a fair deal would vote for the real Republican over the half Republican, it's just they won't bother to vote at all for a status quo that increases the wealth of the wealthy while they lose ground. (as evidenced by the last election where Hillary type candidates were beaten due to such a dynamic.)

(14,195 posts)And I don't think the former D's who are now Independents because of the party swinging so far right are going to vote for her. Saw an article that said 40% of the electorate are now Indpendents! That and there are those of us who remain D's but are progressive liberals who will not vote for her.
I do not see a path to victory for HRC, and i am confident we can do betterr than having her as our nominee

(62,325 posts)many Dems now register as Independents due to the Party's swing to the right, we never see any polls of registered Independents.
That is the largest voting bloc now in the country, the Independent registered voters. They are approx 40% while the Dem vote is approx 32% and Repub approx 29%.
No one can win with just party loyalists, they need to be able to attract voters across the political spectrum.

(9,086 posts)His qualifications should make him a top contender in the Dem. primaries but I guess the mainstream media will try to make him a non-person, not worthy of discussion by serious people in a very serious publication.
