Populism in 10 Minutes
Seems like we might want to know our roots if we want to add a new branch to the tree...
I'd love to hear your comments.

(84,711 posts)I particularly like that he gave a spot for Ralph Nader (whose name is like blasphemy here on DU in some quarters) but who deserves credit for the "Consumer Movement" (Consumer Revolution).
His "Unsafe at Any Speed" was a breakthrough in revelations about GM and led to the safety features we now have. Plus "Consumer Reports" magazine. I remember going armed with CR's Car Buying guide and the groans I got from Car Salesmen about how Nader was a liar who was trying to ruin their business. but, we always used CR as our buying guide for not only cars but other products.
The local TV Stations across the country even added a "Consumer Advocate" where viewers who had been ripped off by stores or for products could write in and get action on their complaint.
When was the last time we "Consumers" who used to be viewed as "Customers" had rights? They started to melt away with Reagan. And, Ralph Nader was considered the Fall Guy for "Stolen Election 2000" when in fact Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush in Florida along with the Supreme Court and Dem Party not willing to fight for Gore to continue the Elections Recount were to blame.
(Sorry for the Nader Rant...but, I assume it will be allowed here in this Group)
