The new sales tactic. Hillary is a progressive.
I can't fucking stand it anymore. What's next, pigs can fly? Curious what this group thinks.

(2,506 posts)Real philosophy and policies needs to be discussed, action plans put forward. Not trying out different colors of lipstick to see which one will stick.
The political and the news shows always talk about 'is this selling well', and never delve into a policy to see if it is sensible or will make a difference. Too much work for shallow talking heads.
Pols need to get away from 'selling' and get to 'working' for the people.

Hillary has proven time and again she will say/do whatever
is politically expedient.
The Pols will never get away from 'selling' and get to 'working' for the people.
To accomplish that would require a sea change ;~)

(62,325 posts)removed from the voters, act as if they are Sales Persons for some product. And they can't understand why, what they obviously think are 'brilliant' marketing ideas, ARE FAILING so miserably.
Who thinks up this stuff? We should have access to these think tanks.
Bernie, eg, speaks from the heart. I never hear 'talking points' from him. Same thing with Warren. On the issue she is most dedicated to, she doesn't need 'talking points'.
There should be a crawl at the end of every political speech saying: 'Watch out for the 'talking points' and I think we should talking points a poisonous term.
Honest people don't need talking points. They just talk and when they talk about things THEY are passionate about, people listen.

That convention-busting piece of data is one of the many surprises released Wednesday from a novel political ranking system that uses public campaign finance data to plot where potential White House contenders fall on the political spectrum. The results were provided exclusively to CNN before Wednesday's release.
Yes, a "novel" complicated black-box generates results that show that Clinton is "a near-idealogical equal on banking policy with "Elizabeth Warren." Interesting that Warren is being bandied about the primary opponent most favored by liberals and progressives, and that Hillary's support among that group is sagging.
I'm sure glad to learn that Hillary is just as liberal as her opponent, and just in time! Trust us, this "novel political ranking system" says so!

...Reflecting other lessons learned, the campaign is being planned with more of a big-tent mentality, as one adviser put it. And Bill Clinton is being integrated from the start, after feeling isolated from parts of her campaign against Barack Obama.
One component of Hillary Clintons emerging strategy involves quietly but aggressively courting key endorsers from the left, who could help increase progressives comfort level and take the wind out of a potential challenge. Two top targets: Robert Reich, the economist and former labor secretary in her husbands administration, and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the civil rights icon. In December, she won public endorsements from former Democratic National Committee Chairman and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.)....

(10,044 posts)that after November of next year, 2016, only 10-1/2 months away, we will no longer talk about Hillary Clinton and this dreaded election.
She will lose or win. That's the end of her campaigns for life.
If she loses, DU will be a happier place with less arguing and more thoughtful topics discussed. If she wins, DU will be a quieter place, with fewer of us even bothering to come here.
Ten and a half months. Can hardly wait.

The right man for leading is on the job. I watched Rachel last night and found out that our President was in Idaho and Kansas speaking at colleges. He lost big in both elections in these states.
What makes it so fascinating is the Koch brothers home base and headquarters is in Kansas, and Obama spoke at a college greatly funded by them. That's takes, I would say "balls," but football is using that word so I'll just say courage, being old-fashioned
Wonder what the Kochs' thought about it. Oh to be a fly on the wall.
Slight edit: The visits to ID and KA were the day after his outstanding SOTU speech... apparently planned long before his speech was so successful. And the invitation must have gone out to him ages ago. The young will save the world yet.

(6,323 posts)The current quip are Supreme Court Judge positions.
My argument to that is why did the Dem's rollover so easy when *Shrub* was filling those seats.
It's the makeup of Dem's, the Third Way will compromise their constituents for corporate and 1 % interests but real Dem's think of their constituents first. For some reason that's some kind of purity test? When we tell our politicians what we want and they support us?
This fantasy of Third Way Politicians actually being honest to liberal Dem's drives me nuts. Some how they will keep the wolves at bay when they're the one's who've been letting them in the backdoor for 30 plus years. And they are the one's who bent in the shallow breeze and confirmed Alito and the gang.
The lack of critical thinking is astounding.
All they see is, pick a Dem who, on paper looks like they can win, to avoid Republicans filling SC positions. Not recognizing the fact that it was Democrats who helped them into those positions.
Of course it will be all our fault when Hillary loses even though they're saying they don't need our votes.
Sorry. I get just as frustrated when I talk to Republicans and I don't think that's coincidence.
Why can't we infiltrate the Republican party like they've done to the Democratic Party.

(3,498 posts)It's generations of conditioning.
People WANT to pick a side and cheer "their team"
Politics has become a spectator sport, like the NFL.
No spectator is on a pro team, but they rise and fall
based on if "their team" wins or loses.
Wait until charter schools finally extinguish "thinking".
Obedience will be the only "education" provided.

(55,981 posts)the Left and yet claim they are liberals. Their answer when confronted about this disparity is that Sen Warren and the Warren Wing are "Extreme Left". Ask them how "extreme left" policies differ from theirs and they will shut up. They don't discuss stands only personalities.
H. Clinton is progressive on a few issues that Goldman-Sachs doesn't care about, other than that, she is very conservative.
Citizens United came about from an attempt to defeat H. Clinton. How ironic if Citizens United helps H. Clinton-Sachs win the nomination.
