If your primary has passed, change your party affiliation to "Unaffiliated" until the day after the GE.

You can still vote for the Democratic nominee in the GE, and you can restore your Democrat Party affiliation well before the next election in your state.

The reason is twofold:

• First, it allows you to show displeasure with a corrupt system, without harming the party.
• Second, it sends the message that rigged machines aren't the only way that party affiliation can be switched.

Think the party takes you for granted? Let's let them know exactly what they have to lose.

Again, IF your primary has passed, go down to the library and update your affiliation to Unaffiliated, just remember to switch it back again! We want to reform the Democratic party, not damage it.

Tho I may not switch back. DNC, DWS, and our local chair and all the manipulations and money have soured me on the Dems. I will vote Dem but I think I will register Green. So I miss out on the primaries. No longer important to me after this one.

It's sending a message directly to the Dem Party leaders, one that is, intentionally, purely symbolic.

I don't want people to change party affiliation permanently, just till the day after GE. It's an alternative option for those that are considering leaving permanently, and it's the equivalent of firing a gun into the air to prove that it's loaded.

Send a message without harming the Party - I absolutely do see that as working from within the Party.

Reformers in positions of leadership, regardless how low on the ladder, should not sacrifice their positions, not while there's still a chance for reform. To do so would be foolishly counter-productive.

13. In New York State - if I mailed in the form tomorrow (April 22)

changing my registration to "no party" as it states on the NYS voter registration form, it won't take effect until after the GE anyway. I will still be listed as a Democrat for the next six and a half months.

Then I'd be unable to switch back to Dem to vote in a primary the next year because in NYS the deadline to change registration is in October - which may be the earliest such deadline in the country.

We have very regressive, onerous voting laws in this state. I think it should be made as easy as possible to vote or change registration - it's our vote not theirs -fuck the PTB. I'm inclined to be independent for good.

I was a Green for a while because the Democratic party went to the right -but became disenchanted with them. I figure they are going nowhere in this country during my lifetime. I switched back to Dem. last March 2015 so I could vote in this year's primary. The deadline to do so to vote on April 19, 2016 in NYS was last October 9, 2015. My interpretation is 30 days before is OK but 20 days before is not. It's a good question what happens to your change of registration if you miss that convoluted deadline. Bad voter!
Yeah it's a horrible sentence but worse than that - Kafka would love it.
