OK, when we get the high-fives out of our system, what next?
Here are some possibilities that I see.
Obama will nominate a progressive and ...... LOL, never mind.
Obama nominates a conservative and the Republicons rejects them because they want to wait until a Republicon is president.
Obama nominates a conservative and the Republicons approve because they fear a Sanders Presidency and a Democratic Senate. Naw, the Republicons are not that smart.
Obama nominates Alberto Gonzales just to see if Sen Charles Grassley has a heart attack.
Any thoughts?

(113,131 posts)and we lefties on DU will grumble about it. However, a mushy middle moderate will be such an enormous improvement over a raging right wing bigot that the grumbling should be subdued and short lived. The Republicans will grandstand but with whispers of Warren being nominated--or appointed during a recess--they'll eventually confirm him or her.

(55,981 posts)You give the Republicons too much credit. IMO, the most important thing for them is to stifle Obama. I don't believe the Senate has recesses anymore. And I hope Sen Warren isn't nominated, she is so much more important in the Senate and future president.
I wouldn't rule out Pres Clinton being nominated if for no other reason, to piss off the Republicons. I doubt he would want the job, he is making millions and millions from speeches.

(113,131 posts)For 7 years he's been alarming Democrats by saying things like social security was on the (cutting) table, then laughing at the Republicans because he knows they wouldn't vote for any of their pet projects to screw America if his name was connected to them.
He'll put forth a moderate, sit back and watch the antics, then threaten them with Warren--or worse.

(55,981 posts)crimes. For seven years he has been ignoring the local militarization of our local police and the deaths of those killed in the streets. For seven years he has let Gov Steigleman rot in prison while letting Sen Ted Stevens walk. For seven years he has ignored the war criminals and justified their torture while being extra tough on whistle-blowers, protesters and journalists.

(2,941 posts)but whomever he nominates, you can be sure they won't be as conservative/right wing and anti-middle class or anti-worker as a Clinton appointee.
