https://www.nba.com/celtics/news/pressrelease/celtics-statement-tommy-heinsohns-passing?Yeah, I know as a broadcaster he was a total homer, but there was no broadcaster, living or dead, who knew the game better than Tommy. And he was entertaining.

(28,392 posts)I wonder if Bob Cousy is aware? Sad news, but he lived a long and great life. He bled green. Give the refs hell, where-ever you end up, Tommy!

(2,257 posts)For my 12th birthday, my dad took me and a friend to see the Celtics. Russ, Cooz and Tommy all played that day, along with Bill Sharman and Frank Ramsey. Of course, the Celtics won. They did a lot of that back then.

(26,592 posts)No, not on the same street, and not even, technically, in the same town. But, if you cut through the side yard of our neighbors across the street, and the side yard of the house whose back faced theirs, you'd find yourself on the next street over, with Heinson's house directly in front of you. (I never met him, myself.)

(2,257 posts)if he's inducted a third time, as a broadcaster. Few people remember that he was color commentator for CBS in the 1980's when they carried the NBA games.

(2,672 posts)Watched the Cooz and Heine play with the Holy Cross kids in late 50's or early 60's. Emulated his hook shot. Showed it off years later at my high school gym with the basketball team. Took three shots from the corner, but made one. The kids asked where that came from. I told them about Heinson.
