Fans already turning on Hornacek’s Knicks in demoralizing wreck

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek talked before the game about his interview for the Rockets coaching job last May. At this point, Hornacek probably wishes he got the job.

The Hornacek Era is off to a miserable 1-3 start after the no-defense Knicks were massacred by Mike D’Antoni’s Rockets, 118-99, as the Garden filled with the first boos of a young season.

After giving up 64 points in the first half in Detroit on Tuesday, the Knicks’ defense was even more woefully inept Wednesday. Houston rang up 68 points and built a 20-point lead in the second quarter.

Afterward, Hornacek was at his most feisty, saying the club needs to follow the defensive game plan distributed. It was a clear dig at the players who talked about having no defensive game plan when Houston rang up 130 points on them in the preseason opener Oct. 4.
