Perth Lynx dominant in 5th straight win

The Perth Lynx continued their impressive form, solidifying their second-place position on the WNBL ladder with a 11-3 record after a dominant performance against the Adelaide Lightning. Riding a four-game winning streak, the Lynx proved too strong for the Lightning, who are sitting fifth (5-9) and struggling to find their rhythm after two consecutive losses, including an 11-point defeat to Canberra earlier in the round.

Perth started the game with intensity, making tough baskets and controlling the offensive boards, maintaining a steady lead of 6-8 points throughout the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, they held a 7-point advantage.

In the second quarter, the Lynx pushed the pace and moved the ball effectively, extending their lead to as much as 16 points midway through. Adelaide struggled offensively, relying on stagnant one-on-one plays that were easily shut down by Perth's cohesive defence. However, a late surge by the Lightning brought some momentum heading into halftime, reducing the margin back to 7 points.

The Lynx came out firing in the third quarter, showcasing their dominance with a 28-16 performance. Adelaide, playing their second game of the round, looked fatigued and unable to match the fresh and energetic Lynx.

Anneli Maley was a standout for Perth, recording a powerful double-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists. Amy Atwell also shone in the second half, nailing five three-pointers and finishing with 18 points. On the defensive end, Brianna Turner was a force for Adelaide, tallying 6 blocks, but her efforts weren't enough to turn the tide.
