Perth Redbacks welcomes bipartisan support from Liberal and Labor to fund basketball stadium in Kensington

The Perth Basketball Association says it is thrilled its bid for a 12-court indoor stadium in Kensington now has bipartisan support.

It follows the Liberal Party’s weekend election commitment to the association, home to NBL1 team the Perth Redbacks, of $37 million for the stadium.

The Labor State Government announced in November $2m towards planning for the project after PerthNow had reported in June and August about the association’s e-petition, which attracted 10,529 signatures.

Redbacks board president Anthony Nixon said the Liberal announcement demonstrated “that this critical project has bipartisan support - we are thrilled with this outcome”.
