UConn head basketball coach Dan Hurley addresses Villanova after Huskies Men fall to Wildcats in Big East battle
UConn men’s basketball lost a 68-66 heartbreaker on the road to Villanova, snapping an eight-game win streak for the Huskies. The reigning national champions are now 4-1 against the Big East this season.
In his postgame press conference, UConn head coach Dan Hurley gave the Wildcats their flowers for a hard-fought victory. Villanova has won eight of its last nine contests dating back to late November.
“I don’t think many people are gonna win here or beat this team at home this year,” Hurley said. “I think that’s a really good team … Tough loss but hard to win against good teams in this league on the road.”
While their opponents showed out on both ends of the floor, the back-to-back champs didn’t get normal production from all of their stars. Alex Karaban, UConn’s leading scorer, only mustered 10 points on 10 shot attempts. The Huskies are also missing projected NBA lottery pick Liam McNeeley due to his recent ankle injury.
