'Nobody f**king cares:' Syracuse women's basketball coach calls out team, community after tough loss
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) Syracuse womens basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack tore into her team and hometown after Wednesday nights loss.
Nobody cares about our program, nobody cares about womens basketball, coach Felisha Legette-Jack said during a post-game press conference. Nobodys into it like we are, and thats okay. But I try to get our kids to understand we got to be so locked into us that we dont see like the fan base is 12 people here.
The Orange let go of a 14-point lead only to lose by a three-pointer against Albany. The final score was 73 to 70. But the tipping point may have started well before tip-off. The scoreboard showed the loss, but the seats showed a lack of support. The official attendance was just over 2,000. To put that in perspective, the Dome can hold over 30,000 for a basketball game. Wednesday nights matchup was less than 10-percent of that.
It was a much different sight at the mens basketball game last Saturday. When Adrian Autrys squad suited up, fans were up all the way to the nose bleeds. Coach Legette-Jack now challenging her team to focus on whos on the court versus whose sitting in the stands......
If theyre real fans and love me like I think they should, they can come to the game and really be part of this thing, and not just send 30 people to game. So, Im disappointed in my fanbase here. If Im home and this is supposed to be home, prove it. This is ridiculous, Im the one coach from this place and this is the respect that we get here
My mom always said You can love somebody, but if they aint loving you back, you gotta love somebody else.'
