Hall of Fame women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey leaves Baylor for LSU

Hall of Fame women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey, who won three national championships in 21 seasons at Baylor, is leaving for LSU.

LSU announced the blockbuster hire on Sunday.

Mulkey, who grew up in Tickfaw, Louisiana, will be introduced in a news conference on Monday

This is probably about as big a story as you're gonna get in women's college basketball, short of Geno Auriemma retiring....which he is not, as far as anyone knows.

I don’t follow women’s ball but I know that anyone who’s been somewhere that long and having won 3 National Championships leaving is a big deal. Very interesting.

How does someone make it into a Hall of Fame, any Hall of Fame, while still engaged in the work that gets them into that Hall of Fame?

I know my ignorance is showing, but I'd appreciate clarification here.

Pretty sure coaches like Coach K, Jim Boeheim and others are in the HOF. Just depends on who makes the rules.

When Vivian Stringer decided to leave Iowa and go back east to Rutgers it was big.
Tara Vanderveer from Ohio State to Stanford was big.

I am a fairly big women's bball fan and this is truly surprising.

lost the championship game to USC, I think. I believe she had a son at LSU playing baseball, but I bet he's graduated by now.

Speaking of the hall of fame. Have you heard about the Poker Hall of Fame? It’s early list is quite interesting, given that most inducted names were based on legends or tales.
