The Batman

I attended an IMAX showing of The Batman today. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, especially the first 2.5 hours of the film.

Some Things I Liked:
The cinematography
The score
The action scenes
The gadgets
Pattinson in his role
Kravitz in her role
Reeves' direction

Some Things I Did Not Like
The movie's length
The Batman-Alfred relationship
The Batcave

The movie is very well made and when it does something right, it does it very well. The main elements in the film along with the ambience are simply wonderful. I wish the Batman and Alfred relationship was fleshed out more as they did not share enough screen time in my opinion. Also, the Batcave was underwhelming.

That being said, the film is simply too long as the final 20 minutes should have been cut from the film, with the exception of the last scene with main villain. The final set piece in the film was not needed as it didn't add anything to the film except the runtime. It's not horrible, it's simply unnecessary as the film could have ended just fine without it.

Overall, it's certainly worth a trip to the theater to see if you need to get out of the house or if you're a fan of the Batman character or action movies. Just make sure to visit the restroom before the movie starts as it is almost three hours long by itself, and definitely over three hours once you add in the trailers and previews.

I really think Bale was the definitive Batman. Pattinson was better than Keaton, Kilmer, or Clooney, but wasn't even close to Bale.

Andy Serkis or Michael Caine as Alfred. That one is a landslide for Caine.

Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman was fine but I think Anne Hathaway nailed it in The Dark Knight Rises.
And what a waste of Colin Farrell. Little screenplay and he was totally unrecognizable. He didn't have any Penguin qualities in him at all.

It was decent as a stand alone movie but not in the same league as Nolan and Bale's Batman.
