A maverick motorbike racer wanders into a top-secret time-travel research test site which unintentionally teleports him to the mid-1800s and ends up having to fight violent outlaws for his survival.

Although the movie was released in 1983, the soundtrack was not available until 2000. Nesmith co-wrote and produced the film, as well as writing, co-arranging, and performing the soundtrack music. His music worked beautifully in the film, and stands up on its own on this CD. The music is not typical Nesmith fair. Due to Timerider's plot, the music is a mix of science fiction and country-rock. In fact, at times it is straight-out 1980s hard rock. All of the music is instrumental, and have strong melodies. There is enough variety throughout to maintain a listener's attention. The band is tight, and overall the music is well produced. Nesmith fans will enjoy this, as will fans of soundtracks.
