IMO, this wasn't acting.

This was therapy.

I'm reading Lorna Luft's autobiography, "Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir". As a child growing up in a very dysfunctional family (Judy Garland), in Bel Air, California, Luft sought refuge with a loving neighbor, Mrs. Tom Englund. Mrs. Englund is better known to the public as actress, Cloris Leachman. Later, Luft discovered that the Englunds were also suffering from a dysfunctional marriage. Namely, George Englund was having an affair with Joan Collins. Cloris Leachman learned about the affair after Collins called her on the phone, more or less asking her to step aside so she could be together with Mr. Englund.

Now, knowing this, watch the clip again. That is NOT acting.

The affair was in the 1958, when Cloris was 7 months pregnant with their first child. She ended up having a miscarriage. She and Englund were married for 25 years and had 5 children before divorcing in 1979. The remained friends though, and even co-authored her autobiography in 2009.
