Watched Platoon for the first time

All I could do was cry off and on. Is this more accurate about what happened in Vietnam? Forrest Gump didn't go into it more detailed. Full Metal Jacket kinda brushed on it more. But this one hit me extremely hard.

to go. His best flic by far. I tend not to cry at movies....too busy taking it in. But the scene when they leave E behind struck deep. Best movie on the topic I think.

The 'two fathers' plot is one helluva stretch, but what you see is pretty straight as far as what happens.

Allow me to suggest another, not on Vietnam but earlier, 'The Thin Red Line'. It is based on a book by James Jones, now largely forgotten as an author but worth recollection. The movie is better then the book, though odd in spots. It is exquisitely observed.

it is forever linked to its use in "Platoon" for me. No feigned glory in that movie, for sure. Vietnam was and is our national tragedy.
