Hoping people here have some suggestions
Just love a slow moving drama set in places like NJ or Brooklyn or Boston - with blue collar characters. Films that involve families and friends and relationships - ones that allow the characters to be fully developed.
One of my favorites is a probably unknown film set in Jersey

(16,399 posts)Kinda depressing, I thought.
There's a film called Hysterical Blindness with Uma Thurman that reminds me of it a bit. She's from New Jersey, single mom struggling and so forth.
I'm sure you've seen The Fighter, which falls in line with this type of film.

they show people just living simple lives and they don't plop down at the computer or
in front of the TV but sit around the kitchen table and drink beer and talk. It just
seems like such a long time ago when life was like that for my family and friends.
thanks for the lead on Hysterical Blindness - when we get our I-PAD TV thingie set
up will find it on Netflix
Yes, loved the Fighter - that's when I started really liking Amy Adams

BTW, I've never been a fan of Bon Jovi's music, but I think he's a decent actor.

If you ever stumble upon a TV movie called "The $5.20 an Hour Dream" you should watch it. It stars Linda Lanvin as a single mom trying to move up in the world by doing a "mans" job.
Come to think of it, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore could be in this category too.
