and I cant decide if I liked it or not. Or why.
Visually, it was beautiful. I think it was the singing that bugged me? In certain parts of songs, the actor sang so differently than Elton, it pulled my head right out of the movie. He is a good singer, its just that those songs are so embedded in my brain any difference is very noticeable. IIRC, in the Doors movie, they used both Val Kilmers vocals and Morrisons. Maybe they should have done that here. Idk.
I wonder if Elton actually showed up to an AA meeting in full feathers. That would have been fantastic to witness! Im glad his drug use and excesses werent glorified war stories. They focused more on the negative effects it had on his life. As someone in recovery, I appreciated that. I am so glad he found David and has two beautiful children to love and to love him back. He deserves all the good stuff.
I was going to watch Bohemian Rhapsody but Prime wants 20 damn dollars to rent it. Hell, no.

(15,359 posts)Queen Rocks Montreal DVD. An equally great show from a few years before Wembley. I love that one because it's got a great selection of earlier songs that they didn't do at Wembley. You can see everything from both of those DVD's on YouTube, if not the whole shows. Some of both of those shows are depicted in Bohemian Rhapsody. I haven't seen that, but I've seen the trailer, and he's in those costumes.
We're lucky to have quality video of those concerts. Most bands didn't bother to produce high quality concert videos because post production costs were so high in those days. It's too bad all the great old classic rock bands couldn't have done that.

(9,831 posts)The story was sacrificed for the musical numbers, and there were too many of them. It felt they wrote just enough biographical dialogue to get from one musical number to the next. I've loved EJ since the early 70's so I was really disappointed.
Bohemian Rhapsody was a much better movie, IMO. I really liked it, but it was treated as a story with music.
