Really enjoying it. Saw it mentioned around DU somewhere. Love Chief Dan George, his best scene below.

(95 posts)Dustin Hoffman is a good actor! I, too saw Little Big Man, and liked it a great deal!
Dustin Hoffman is the man--and a damned good actor, at that.
He's done a wonderful job in every movie that he's played in, as well.

(34,372 posts)Love it. I think I even have it around here somewhere but probably a VHS. Hmmm, would love to see it again.
I, too saw Little Big Man, at a now de-funct cinema north of Boston, back in the summer of 1971.

(19 posts)Based on an excellent book.
Do you know if the book is still in print? I'd love to get a copy of it if it is.

(3,064 posts)It's readily available on Amazon and is a wonderful read.
It may even be better than the movie. I've read reviews that compare the style to something Twain would write.
And I'd agree to that.

(68,380 posts)(In retrospect, I can't believe my parents allowed me to watch it at that age, unless they intended what ended up happening - I saw immediately the horror and injustice of the Americans against the native peoples. I didn't grow up thinking Custer was a hero.)
I loved the film. Especially Chief Dan George. He was excellent.

(14,250 posts)Was when he was discussing the "black white men." He said they were just as stupid as the other white men, but not quite as ugly.

(5,068 posts)Dustin Hoffman was amazing, but my favorite remains Richard Mulligan's manic performance as Custer.
