I love all the films you do from .. Best Years Of Our Lives, to On the Waterfront, to Midnight Cowboy to French Connection, to Saving Private Ryan... yea, yea yea, we all agree on these and others.. but tonight I made my choice for my favorite film ever... FARGO! I base this choice on one thing only..
Just Fucking Straight on Entertainment! Thats all!

(15,064 posts)'some' but very few newer movies I really like too. Blood Simple was prior to Fargo. But to me it's real close to being just as good.
Also, I cannot get enough of Bogart. No matter what role, big or small, he's in. Every part he does is believable. It's also interesting that he came from a rather well to do upbringing and really didn't like acting that much.

(23,000 posts)Apparently he used to eat garlic and make his breath really bad when he had a kissing scene with a woman. When you see those old kissing scenes it often looks as if the woman is kind of panting and holding back.
His breath stunk but it made for good love scenes.
I can't verify this at all but if it's true it was very clever.
BTW - Actors have a lot of things they do for effect. Like pull out a couple nose hairs right before the camera lands on you so you can cry for realistically. And make sure you don't blink, the eye will get red if you stare for a while.

(95 posts)the 1961 film version of "West Side Story" still tugs at my heartstrings after more than 50 years. I cannot get enough of it, I go to see it whenever it comes to a movie theatre in my general area, plus I've even made special road trips to the opposite end of the Bay State, as well as to neighboring states, just so I can see West Side Story on a great, big wide screen, in a real movie theatre, with the lights down low!

I like all of the above-mentioned movies as well, busterbrown, but, as I posted on another post, the 1961 film version of West Side Story is my all time favorite movie, hands down!!
