Two superb films by Feng Xiaogang...

For anyone who likes Chinese films, or even if you are not familiar with them..

Assembly - based on true events during the Chinese Civil War..
and Aftershock, which I watched last night for the 3rd or 4th time...

Aftershock is based on the horrendous Tangshan earthquake in1976. Estimates of the death toll vary between 280,000 and 600,000. It is one of the most emotionally gripping films I have ever seen. It follows a family that was devastated the earthquake over the next 32 years. extremely well-acted, well directed and well shot.
