Employment opp: Policy and Politics Correspondent, Kaiser Health News
ABOUT THE JOB:
Health care is THE political issue of the day, and Kaiser Health News is hiring a policy and politics correspondent to join our team in DC, focusing on Congress and the agencies and the future of health care in the U.S.
We want someone with a hefty source list who can write clearly and incisively about the people behind the national and state struggles over health care. We want scoops; we want analyses. Our reporters know health care. We want you to help infuse our coverage with more rapid-fire reporting on how the deals get made, what the agencies are doing, and what kinds of proposals are bubbling under the surface. Your job is to make sense of policy-making and politics and more. Be a wonk, but be one who sees the humanity of this job. The position will have a special emphasis on health policy relating to womens and childrens health. We think this is deeply important to understanding the state and future of US health care.
So we are hoping you have 5+ years experience (preferably with significant experience covering health issues). Some knowledge of how to tell stories with data is a plus. How to dig into financial or regulatory records would be good too. We expect you will have a notable social media following. We want someone who wants to be part of an ambitious and fast-growing organization and can collaborate and contribute on daily stories, big projects, investigations and podcasts. We find our days exciting.
Tell us why you want to work at this great organization and why no one else could do this job better than you could. Were excited to hear from you.
