(84,711 posts)I thought Professor Colin Samson from Sociology Department at University of Essex does an incredible job in this video of bringing Mill's work into our current times. Its a long watch...but, I sure could identify with what he's saying in my experience out in the corporate world. He was so ahead of his time! And, that he is so little known these days given his Bio is very sad. Chris Hedges, Chomsky and a few others have mentioned him...and hopefully with Bernie running more will get interested in reading about him.

(23,282 posts)Same thing with theory of a leisure class. The rich have always controlled outer government. They lost control when FDR got elected and then Nixon started giving back our government to the rich and Reagan opened that pandora station box which I hope we can close if Bernie gets elected and flip the houses to democrats. It will take a couple of cycles if we can convince people it is in their better interests.
