Family dog saves abandoned newborn baby and brings her home.
A 2-year-old dog in Thailand saved the life of an abandoned baby on Monday. The male dog found a plastic bag with a newborn baby girl inside and carried the infant back home, according to the Bangkok Post. It is believed that the baby was abandoned at a roadside dump in Tha Rua district of Ayutthaya province.
When Pui returned home he barked loudly to get his family's attention. Twelve-year-old Sudarat Thongmak came to see what was the matter and was shocked to find the baby with her umbilical cord still attached. She ran to get her parents, who rushed the baby to hospital.
The baby was in critical condition, having been born prematurely. She is one and half months premature, having spent around 7-and-a-half months in the womb, as opposed to the full term of nine months. She continues to receive treatment at hospital. Authorities are trying to find her mother. . .
The Bangkok Post wrote that Pummarat has expressed interested in adopting the baby into her family. . .
The Red Cross offfice in the Rua district has said that they have been approached by five families wanting to adopt the premature baby girl rescued by Pui. The office said they would not decide on the baby's future until the baby is healthy. She is currently in an incubator at hospital and still needs close care, although her condition is improving.
