Related: About this forumJust stick this portable outlet to your window to start using solar power
We have seen a lot of solar chargers in our day. And among all of them, this is the first one weve seen that we will definitely run out and buy as soon as its made available in the U.S. Its a portable socket that gets its power from the sun rather than the grid. You plug into a window instead of into the wall. Its easy.
That was the whole point, according to the designers, Kyohu Song and Boa Oh: We tried to design a portable socket, so that users can use it intuitively without special training, they write.

Had a $6 solar light at the end of my driveway.. even covered with a few inches of snow, it charged. I could see it shining through the snow at night.

(14,656 posts)4. I was excited until I read the comments at the link. I know zip about how
solar technology really works so I don't know who to believe.
Most were saying this charger could do little at best. Can
someone with more than my gnat-like knowledge of solar weigh
in here?

I like Grist as a source regarding technology innovation though.

I'm excited about all the new advances in solar and wind technology. None are perfect, just yet, but we're well on our way to developing viable and more convenient energy tech that we can all benefit from. Once they work on the affordability, that is.

I'd like to know if it's for sale to the public.
