Today is our daughter's 28th birthday, this isn't good, it is GREAT news....

We nearly lost her 10 years ago. It was touch and go, affected the rest of our family's lives forever - I won't go into detail, but it is something many young people (especially girls/women deal with).

She got through it, we got through it - there have been good days/weeks/months/years, and some not so good. We've had help from many people, and found hope in unexpected places and in unexpected ways. Right now things are good. We don't know what tomorrow will bring - but, what is indeed a small miracle, I just got done making her this

And this is something, her enthusiasm and excitement about eating this cake, is a miracle - it is hope. And everything seems pointed in a good direction

Happy birthday to our dear, tough sweet girl!

we use this recipe for the cake

http://everybodylikessandwiches.com/2011/05/happy-birthday-cake-to-me-black-magic-cake-with-vanilla-bean-buttercream/

and this for the two icings

http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2008/08/chocolate-peanut-butter-cake/

so it is a devils food cake (easy, moist!) with peanut butter cream cheese frosting and dark chocolate peanut butter fudge ganache.

The cake is wonderful with the vanilla bean icing in the first recipe as well.

I will take a picture later of the cake and post it!
