Abandoned dog leads rescuers to puppies in Dallas park
Animal rescue volunteers were surprised last week when a usually elusive black-and-white dog greeted them with barks in a south Dallas park.
The abandoned dog led those Dallas Dogrrr rescuers deeper into the park, where they made a surprising discovery. CBS Dallas reports:
Hes never acted like that before and I was worried that maybe he was sick or something that happened to him, Marina Tarashevsce, an animal rescuer with Dallas Dogrrr.
I told her, I bet you hes trying to get you to follow him, said dog behaviorist John Miller. Every time we got closer he would go away and bark at us saying, Keep coming. Keep coming my way.
The dog led them into very dense woods.
We get about half way to the trail and we hear eww eww, eww, Miller recalled. And I said, puppies! We have puppies!
The black-and-white dog, now called Hero, led animal rescue workers to 10 shivering puppies and a tired mom. All 12 of the cold, shivering dogs are now warm and dry at a foster home.
Dallas Dogrrr has set up a GoFundMe page for food, supplies and vet bills.
