Sprinkle Some Happiness

When Laura Lavigne was very young, she told her parents she wanted to be a social worker when she grew up. She was laughed at and told it was a very silly idea. So, she went into other careers.

One day, though, she realized that wanting to make life easier for people was her heart's true desire. She decided to create a community center in Anacortes, Washington, and titled it the Anacortes Center for Happiness.

"And it got really lit up. And felt really authentic and really where I needed to be in the idea of spreading joy while experiencing joy. And doing goofy things. And doing things that just make people laugh or feel warm or even just comforted—it’s not always about laughing. Just that sweetness of connection."

One of the Center's activities is a Happiness Sprinkling, where members stand on street corners holding signs that promote happiness. The success stories from these events can be very heart warming.

Read about them in this inspiring interview with Laura here: http://www.dailygood.org/story/628/clear-skies-and-a-chance-of-joy-audrey-lin/

"It’s really beautiful how sometimes the very healing for ourselves might be what we’re providing others at the same time."

I wish you all a day of love, joy and Good News!

There is always so much to bring you down. Keep looking, that's what I'm doing, too. It really can take a lot of effort, but it is totally worth it. Tomorrow, maybe...
And thank you.
