Elizabeth Warren: Obama Trade Deal Could Undermine Wall Street Reform

this is from December but since there is speculation that Obama may speak about this in the SOTU tonight I am posting it here

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/18/elizabeth-warren-trade-deal_n_6350312.html

"We are concerned that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) could make it harder for Congress and regulatory agencies to prevent future financial crises," the letter reads. "With millions of families still struggling to recover from the last financial crisis and the Great Recession that followed, we cannot afford a trade deal that undermines the government's ability to protect the American economy."

While trade has emerged as a rare area of compromise between the two sides, the GOP says Obama needs to do more to get his own party in line on the issue. Republicans also want cover from Democrats if they are going to ask their own members to give Obama additional powers.

“We need the president to engage on this issue with his own party,” House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said last week.

“We need him to make it a priority in the State of the Union,” Ryan added. “We need him to work with his party to help get votes.”

Sickening.

I think we are going to hear about "glitter-shitting unicorns" that he knows will never pass, and in amongst the previously scorned ponies and rainbows, the TPP, and maybe Keystone (which I think, as oil prices may make the Keystone not really economically feasible, may be vetoed as a sop for other things like the TPP), maybe a sad but "realistic" look at "saving" Social Security by cutting it a bit, and never a breath about raising the cap.
I would rather not watch.

that are supporting it by their silence. Apparently torn between loyalty for the President and concern for the 99%.

Sooner or later you will have to pick a side. Side with the progressive wing or the conservative wing.

I am so tired of the "Conservative" Dem's fucking it up for the rest of us. There's a conservative party, fucking join them already and get the hell out.
