Elizabeth Warren, in the Future Tense, Says ‘No’ to 2016 White House Bid

Elizabeth Warren, in the Future Tense, Says ‘No’ to 2016 White House Bid
1/13/15

Updated with comment from MoveOn and Democracy for America.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has now rejected a 2016 presidential campaign in both the present and future tenses.

The Massachusetts Democrat has for months gently patted away questions about her presidential ambitions with a present-tense “I am not running for president.”

But in an interview published Tuesday in Fortune magazine, Ms. Warren gave a categorical response to the future-tense question: “Are you going to run for president?”

And her remarks come on the same day that two groups urging Ms. Warren to seek the White House announced the launch of a New Hampshire campaign to support her. MoveOn and Democracy for America on Tuesday said they would begin a Granite State effort to back Ms. Warren on Saturday.

MoveOn and Democracy for America released a joint statement Tuesday saying they are undeterred in their effort to draft Ms. Warren to run for president.

“Sen. Warren has been clear for years that she isn’t planning on running. If she were running, there wouldn’t be a need for a draft effort,” the groups said. “We launched the Run Warren Run campaign to show Senator Elizabeth Warren the tremendous amount of grassroots enthusiasm and momentum that exists for her entering the 2016 presidential race and to encourage her to change her mind.”

Until MoveOn & DFA lose hope of her presidential bid, neither will I.

But this still bums me out.

However, based on the trends now, that is the most likely outcome.

Hillary Clinton is a loser.

We need to ramp-up the noise to draft Warren ... Sanders if that doesn't work or get behind a genuine progressive candidate.

who think this will make Warren supporters turn to Hillary. Or by those who may as well post a "neener-neener" as a comment. Yeah, it would be great if Warren runs, but I support the IDEA of a Warren, the reality of a Bernie, I want to support someone who is not a Third Way Corporate candidate. Right now I am on Team Bernie.

I'll support anyone who has proven to be truly for the People & not a paid-off puppet for Big $.

Bernie will have my full support, though tempered in enthusiasm because I truly believe he could never win in the GE. He's a "socialist" and while this doesn't bother me in the least, most people find this offensive, even if they don't know his work...but Liz could win the GE.

Very frustrating.
