The Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life held a press luncheon with political science professors David Campbell and John Green on the topic of how religion both divides and unites Americans.

1. Intriguing in several ways

A quick read left me impressed by several points that were not intuitively obvious. A couple that leapt out: 1) Republicans have been disastrous for Evangelical Protestantism in this country, among the young especially. The boost that Reagan and the Bushes got from this demographic was ultimately a selling of the evangelical soul to a political devil. 2) Mormons are more discriminated against than unbelievers, or more disapproved in our society, as are Buddhists.
