True Vine Baptist Church in Oakland does "stand ins" on corners where people have been killed by gun violence. My church had several people in attendance to honor this lady's two sons and their friend, who was also killed. Both mothers were there.

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I don't care what people who have to have their guns without restriction have to say on the subject. The fact is guns make these killings possible. Yes, you can stab someone to death. You can poison them. You can drown them. But the guns make it so easy. This has to stop.

If you're a praying person, please pray for this lady. If you're not a praying person, please keep her in your thoughts. And for the other mother, too, of course.

Thank you.

Perhaps if some of the advocates for increased access to firearms had to look the victim's families in the eyes, they would rethink their position.

Or maybe not.

Hope you are well my friend!

I wish there were something I could do for her. I imagine it helped for a minute to have all those people paying attention to her loss. But then, she'd go home without her kids.

So many things are wrong in our society and in my city, and most of them are the result of messed up priorities in our government.
