Conservatives attacked the Presidents comments; liberals proved the presidents points by their cowardly silence.

They could have stated there are numerous research studies that show a high correlation between gun ownership and both suicides and homicides. But they didnt.
They could have flooded the media with outrage after the Republican-controlled House Appropriations Committee, days after the Charleston murders, continued the ban against the Centers for Disease Control to conduct scientific research about gun violence. But they didnt.
This is a good read and places blame for the complacency in congress where it belongs. I'll be sending a copy to my legislators (like it'll make an impression on Cornyn and Cruz) and suggest everyone with a Democratic congress critter do the same.
There are things that they could have done long ago. But they didn't.
