I happened to turn on Rush in the car today and figured something out
You know how gun activists have this weird persecution complex where they think the only reason people support gun control is to ostracize them and hurt their itty bitty wittle feelings? They insist gun control has nothing to do about saving lives but is instead all about them (like they think absolutely everything is about them). Well, Rush was going on today about how their is so much bigotry against conservatives. I realized that's where gunners get the idea that opposition to their extreme views on guns is akin to bigotry against a protected class under race, gender, or religion. They've picked up that victimization complex from right-wingers like Rush.

(54,771 posts)Because it positions gun zealots as victims as opposed to the 38,000 Americans killed every year from gun violence. It highlights just how astonishingly self-absorbed they are.

(53,661 posts)The word liberal has been equated with the anti-christ, murder, whatever. So they have to have reason to hate and fear to keep it going until we're all dead. They really do talk that way.
I hardly ever--okay never--listen to him. I just turned in on for 60 seconds today. What you describe is horrible.

(53,661 posts)And I listened to him for years. The idea is to see just how high the crazy is. He was talking this crap in the 1990s. A constant media presence, several hours a day, and reruns of his shows all weekend. And in some parts of the country, his is the only voice within those hours.
All GOP. And he was a bigger part of the Newt Gingrich takeover of congress in the nineties than some want to admit. He rehashed to the bigotry of the 1950s and had a cult following, also a morning TV program then. He went all that summer talking about Hillary Clinton's death panels. It sure got out the vote.
And the warmups for his act were far more vicious than him, which always made him seem reasonable. You cannot erase that many thousand of hours out of the human brain anymore than you can the same from Infowars which follows and pretends to be the anti-GOP side of the spectrum. And it turns out both are related to Koch brothers organization, except that the Koches are on record regarding their payoffs to Rush.
Why doesn't anyone understand that when these guys, O'Reilly and Beck, are making a hundred million a year or more, even if their ratings go down, that the money is coming from deep pockets somewhere?
The Tea Party was created by the Koch brothers, and the starve the beast gang was created by Gorver Nordquist, all with the same intent: to destroy the Demcratic Party, liberalism and progressives. And if some innocent blood, or as they say, liberal blood needs to be spilled, so be it.

(6,641 posts)the Rush influence in their "talking points." One of them keeps repeating "words have meaning," which is a standard Limpballs lead-in to his use of twisted logic when attacking Liberals.
According to most Gungeoneers, the NRA "A" rating is something that Democratic politicians should covet, so that they can win over the hearts and minds of rednecks and other right-wingers -- the same audience that worships Rush.
You are exactly correct: a 5-minute trip to the Gungeon is like listening to Mr. Oxycontin for an hour, and it takes several hours to get rid of the stench the place leaves in your mind.

rush limbaugh makes me sick. Hell for me would have him on 'radio inferno', 24/7.
I have to use the station 'search' on the car radio & every now & then when I hear him I'll stop it & listen for a few minutes to hear his current propaganda, about 2 - 10 minutes is as far as it goes before I switch back to search, usually screaming f-words at the radio.
.. He's a hypocrit too, from bashing drug use yet claiming he was framed or something for his own oxycontin use, some kind of plea copout which enabled him to tapdance around his very own illegal drug use.
.. he got a deferment during vietnam because of a pilonidal cyst (a cyst in the gluteus maximus, guffaw - so is he or is he not a perfect a**hole?). Yeah well I have one too but didn't disqualify me from being drafted 1A (didn't go to vn tho) nor most others with PCs, they'd just say 'no it hasn't bothered me'. http://www.snopes.com/military/limbaugh.asp
Rush Bimbo reminds me of that other rightwing hypocrit john the duke wayne, hated liberals & got deferments from wwII since he thought he was a 'national prize' needed more for espirit de corps, to inspire, bleh. He finally was rated 1A & boy did he scream to get out of it.
