On the need for hosts

Being this is the first group I've ever petitioned the admins to have made or have been involved in, I'm not sure how to have hosts appointed but I have a message into the admins to quickly learn this. If any member of the group knows, let me know.

I'll be more than happy to host, solo for a while if necessary, to clean out the gun trolls who've already come in. I have no desire to be the only host long term but also have no issue taking on anyone who is attempting to subvert or undermine the purpose of this forum. I don't care if someone thinks the SOP was worded vaguely. We're not in a court room. The original team of DUers who pushed for this group know the intended purpose here and we'll administer the group based on that.

I'd again only suggest, whoever is hosting, that blocking decisions be very deliberate and well-explained -- very, very public. I'd go so far as to suggest individual threads on members being considered for blocks.

5. Also the order other hosts are added determines who the main host will be if the first host retires

Threads on members would take it into Meta territory.

6. Probably an overkill, you're right.

Perhaps it could be a sticky combined thread, "x was blocked because if this post which demonstrated such-and-such."

talking about host comments after a blocking.
I had imagined an OP like this: "DUerXXXX is a gun-****** troll" when I mentioned Meta.

13. I am so glad to learn that you are now a supporter of progressive gun control organizations

Because this is a group that is defined as the SOP as a safe haven for members of Progressive Gun Control organizations I am pleasantly surprised that you are posting here, I never thought you were a supporter of groups like the Brady Campaign and Mayor's Against Illegal Guns but because you are posting here that must mean you are a supporter because as the SOP states "members agree that more guns are not the solution to gun violence, and are expected to be supportive of the policies of progressive gun control reform organizations."

I am glad you embraced that statement by posting in this group, you have now officially taken a stand against more guns as a solution to gun violence and have embraced organizations like the Brady Campaign. I am sure Mayor's Against Illegal Guns will be glad to be able to call you a supporter of theirs.

against gun control, there is basically no choice but to block them.

I would hope that the pro-gunners would simply respect the SoP and not post here by choice, but obviously that isn't happening so far.

15. You have my support and concurrance with what you've stated.

This isn't rocket science. If you're for the NRA-line on gun control or you're opposed to gun control in general because you don't think we need to take active steps to stop gun violence and you're being disruptive in this group you should be blocked. Those who are respectful, non-disruptive and truly want to help stop gun violence are welcome. Those who are not are mistaken.

I'll start a separate nomination thread for you momentarily
