Speaking of the cost of shooting . . .
https://www.democraticunderground.com/126212452It seems that the state of Florida will pay $1.1 million in court costs to some doctors who sued the state over their first amendment rights.
What? There's another right that doesn't have something to do with guns? Seems so, much to the NRA's surprise.
It went like this; the FL legislature which was heavily lobbyed by the NRA passed a law that forbade doctors from asking patients about guns in the household. Some of the medical associations, notably the American Association of Pediatrics, were raising awareness among their members of the dangers posed to their patients by unsecured guns. When some doctors began to ask about and suggest such radical in-your-face-extreme ideas like gun safes to protect children the NRA wasn't having any of it. Violation of 2nd Amendment ya' know.
Some of the doctors discovered this little known clause in the Constitution that relates to freedom of speech and sued. Long story short the taxpayers of FL are now saddled with a $1.1 million payout to cover the cost of explaining to the state legislature that guns just ain't all that.
Call it tuition for a short course in the Bill of Rights.

(54,770 posts)1. I remember gunners went nuts over pediatricians talking to parents about guns.

(130 posts)3. Some decided the best response to this was to lie.
They said they would simply lie about their gun ownership and, if they had kids, train them to lie to any doctors that ask if their parents own guns.
I assume this means they would do the same for any parents or kids coming to their house whom ask about gun ownership, so as not to be in a house with guns.

NRA to 'New York Times': We're coming for you
In an ad for the National Rifle Association, spokeswoman Dana Loesch has a strong warning for The New York Times.
"We're coming for you," she says in the video that attacks the Times as fake news and an "untrustworthy, dishonest rag."
Claiming the Times protects its "Democrat overlords," refuses to accept real truths and claims to be fact-based journalism, Loesch promises the NRA will "laser focus" on the newspaper.
But it's another line in the video that has media personalities and Loesch fighting via Twitter.
"Consider this the proverbial shot across your proverbial bow. We're going to fisk The New York Times," Loesch claims to say.

Check out the picture of these fine upstanding "responsible gun owners" marching in lock step for their fascist overlords.
