Maggie Hassan says ISIS advertises lax U.S. gun laws

As gun policy takes a central role in New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race, Democrat Maggie Hassan is warning that terrorists are trying to exploit federal laws to obtain firearms.

Hassan brought up the point in the first televised debate against Republican incumbent Kelly Ayotte.

"With her solution, terrorists can still today — and by the way ISIS knows it, they have been advertising it — buy guns online and at gun shows in the United States of America," Hassan said on the debate stage at New England College.

Is it really a point terrorists are spreading? Let’s look.

PolitiFact has already looked into Hassan’s claim that Ayotte voted against a proposal to expand background checks and found it Mostly True.

Maggie Hassan is the Governor of New Hampshire, and is the Democratic US Senator Elect from that state. She is a realistic supporter of gun control, and is a voice for sanity in the war on gun violence in this country.

Gun huggers steadfastly claim that it is impossible for "prohibited persons" to buy guns online, or at gun shows. That is an inconvenient truth that the Second Amendment absolutist delicate flowers try to ignore, but can't hide.

The Charelston self-taught racist who gunned down 9 people at the oldest black church in SC was not allowed to buy a gun because of a previous drug felony. When he went to buy the Glock that he used in the crime the owner dutifully filed the FBI notification and told him he could come back in 3 days to get the gun. Since the gun shop did not hear from the FBI after the 72 hour period, he walked out with the gun.
The FBI later called to tell the shop not to sell the gun --- 12 days after the massacre had taken place.
There are not words adequate to express how wrong and stupid this is.
