Gun permit owner shoots gun into bathroom because he felt the person was taking too long

Vernon police have arrested a man accused of firing a gun into a bathroom because he thought someone was taking too long using the facilities.

Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the Portico 1 Villa Apartments, 142 Vernon Ave., in the area of apartment #80 for a report of a highly intoxicated man who shot a gun inside an apartment.

The suspect is a 22-year-old man, Shawn Cummins, who clearly has a problem with being intoxicated.

While they were hanging out, Cummins became upset when someone wouldn't get out of the bathroom, then took out a 9mm handgun he had concealed in his waistband and fired one round into the closed bathroom door, just missing the person inside, police said.

Cummins then left the apartment and fired a second shot into the outside wall of the apartment complex.

His problem with alcohol most likely didn't show up on his background check, and checking with his family, doctor, or the local police records before issuing a license to carry a deadly weapon would be an "infringement" of his Holy Second Amendment rights. Or, so goes the Absolutist's and Apologist's arguments against checking too deeply into a person's character before issuing what amounts to a license to kill.

The Second Amendment is so much more important than the rest of the Amendments, the right-wing gun lobby tells us (through ALEC and the NRA) that 30,000 of our fellow citizens must be sacrificed to it each and every year in order to ensure our Liberty and Freedoms. The far-right gun lobby is all wrapped up in the flag and neo-conservative ideals and values, and is patriotic in a very special "we're number one" sense of Americanism.

The fact that the Second Amendment as currently interpreted by a right-wing SCOTUS is also good for business for the arms merchants who pay politicians and judges to interpret things, is immaterial (according to Donald Trump and Rush Limbaugh).

NRA and ALEC: "The dirty Liberal Democrats are going to take your guns!"

Gun Lobby and manufacturers: "Buy more guns before they take them!"

Probably not, though. I think you made that up out of thin air.

Post the link. I dare you.
