OMG what a HOOT!! The NRA is calling...
Okay, a few years ago the NRA called and asked for MR tosh and would not speak to me. Didn't matter, we both share the same views on whatever the NRA might want to talk about, but they weren't having it.
So just now, NRA shows on the caller ID so I answer just for fun. They actually ask for ME - MS tosh!! Cool!
Young woman tells me that Wayne La Pierre has some words for me and she will come back on the line to get my reaction so will I hold? SURE!!
Recording of Wayne spouting all of that paranoid, poor us BS and naming names (Obama, Hillary, Bloomburg) and "we don't have the media on our side", "we don't have billions", and on and on.
Then some guy comes on and asked me if I heard it. Why, yes, I did. Well, what did I think? I told him enthusiastically that it was the most hilarious stuff I'd heard in weeks!
Guess what? He HUNG UP ON ME!!!
Delicate flowers, those.
Thanks for letting me share!

(841 posts)It all came from Scalia's district court decision years ago, overriding 200 years of judicial interpretation of the Second Amendment as referring only to state police and national guard to maintain local security. The same original interpretation that we all learned in high school civics class many years ago . . . and the same original interpretation any idiot capable of parsing English would have agreed with.
Good riddance.

(14,559 posts)Go ahead and give them your home address. You will get solicitations to join for years. It costs 47c for them to send the solicitation plus the cost of printing etc. Put expired coupons in the envelope and mail it back at a cost to them of another 47c. Over the next few years you'll cost them $20-30.
