So, how many here have met mental health "professionals" on here?
That seems to only be trying to sway the argument to their way? This has happened on more than one occasion. It can't just be with me.

(10,039 posts)Not really giving any background and simply saying, "other professionals agree with me." Plus going on about something with no sensitivity whatsoever. Sort of like this:

As far as sensitivity goes.

(36,063 posts)that in the "us/me" vs "them" perspective--
The least defensible them for providers is clients,
the least defensible them for care providers is the cared for,
the least defensible them for bathers is the dirty.
Within a social fabric where people must complain to feel good about how hard their jobs/lives are the mentally ill are pretty low on the totem pole of shared valuation.
It's possible to understand and accept that phenomenon as some people's attitudes toward jobs which engage mentally ill people and to not actually accept those person's attitude toward mentally ill as being within the domain of goodness on a measure of good to bad.
Things are not as we might wish they would be.
Life is full of disappointment.

(10,237 posts)it wasn't till 1973-4 that the mental health "professionals" started to figure out that homosexuality wasn't a mental disorder they could "fix"
I have met people here with more insight into mental health than I have a lot of the time -----to me that's a professional.
