Moral Injury is a War Inside

I saw a full page ad in the WSJ and I could not take my eyes from the image



And in the middle was this title - above - and below:

No one should fight it alone

and below:

Imagine a soldier who takes a life in the line of duty. No matter how much good he does, he believes he's a bad person. He hates himself, hurts himself. He's one of the many who struggle with Moral Injury. At Volunteers of America, we can help him find peace.

1. I noticed the ad only addressed the pronoun "he"

and by example, a male soldier. I struggle too with issues of self-forgiveness, over-responsibility vs enmeshed co-dependency in vow and Xtian commandment keeping...I am a senior citizen now, nearing the end of my journey...I've already tried several types of counseling including a trauma specialist counselor--that person, a PhD doctor, got a better offer...so further morally wounded, betrayed in trust, victimized, and unable to recover the sense of self I once just barely owned but failed many times over to resolve...when the pain keeps recurring and pops out...I feel clueless as to how I can personally continue to try to resolve the issues nor do I have the motivation to keep coping...it feels too late -- especially with others' lazy, easy defenses and discriminations at my age. I feel doomed to accept a bitter karmic remainder of life and many would say I deserve it because I wasn't always mature, brave or disciplined enough! I think they call this complex PTSD - VOA calls it moral injury. NO SOLDIER taking the high ground, one's better angel, nor of fortune here.

Yeah, this response might better be in the support group.

UPDATE: Upon visiting the VoA.org page, there is a female version of this photograph. LOL, don't think the SCOTUS agrees or recognizes the moral injury they've caused to women now and for the foreseeable future. Send a message: ROEROEROE the vote!
