My son's migraine journey
So I took him for his appointment with his neurologist and he is being switched from Botox to Emgality. I am so thankful for the insurance and the great healthcare that he has. His neurologist is phenomenal. The University hospital is so supportive. I knew it was only a matter of time before he was switched. Here's hoping this is the answer. I guess at his next appointment she is thinking about getting rid of the Zolmig too. This medicine can only be authorized by 4 neurologists at the University hospital, luckily he has one of them. Hopefully things will start to go in a more positive direction for him.

(16,546 posts)It's helpful that he has such a supportive parent. My father had migraines so bad he was often suicidal. He learned biofeedback and swore by it. Just throwing that out there. I'm sure everyone is different.

(3,099 posts)The medication he could switch to. He chose to try Emgality. His neurologist is really empowering him with his own health care. She is just phenomenal.

(3,099 posts)I feel terrible for him. I am generally a positive person and it kills me to see him going through this. I would take all his pain if I could but I can't. But I will continue to fight like hell for him to get answers.
