I saw a good documentary last night called "The Atomic Cafe"

It's absolutely chilling how little concern the American government had for Pacific Islanders and GIs when doing nuclear testing.

She loved the people she met there, but confessed a fear for what her time there might mean for her future health.

Watching a documentary at one point, I was struck by the knowledge that she probably knew most of the people I saw on the screen.

I also knew a man who was a Navy corpsman at “Operation Crossroads.” He got to deal with sailors who were ill-prepared for their “mission.” (These sailors are “decontaminating” a ship that has just survived a nuclear blast.)

So sad that our naïveté caused so much damage, and still is.

I've just finished a documentary titled HOT WATER which deals with the environmental contamination from uranium mining and nuclear energy...
