The pop up is from DU's ad provider. I asked them about this, and it turns out that if you are in California it will appear even if you are a Star Member. They said:

"Even if paying members don’t see ads, receive cookies related to ads, or get tracked for advertising purposes, CCPA compliance still requires that they be informed of their rights regarding data privacy. This applies to all users in California, regardless of membership or login status."

I've been informed that it can be completely turned off globally for the entire site, but unfortunately there's no fine-tuning that would allow it to be disabled for Star Members only. I can't turn it of globally because that would put DU in violation of Californa's privacy laws for people who are seeing ads. So unfortunately I can't get rid of it for Star Members at this time.

If you click either button on the banner it should just go away and hopefully you won't see it again.

Maybe I need to do it on all my devices. But I think I've done it on the laptop more than once with no luck.

Special counsel Jack Smith on Friday released a massive trove of heavily redacted documents in his 2020 election subversion criminal case against former President Donald Trump.

There are nearly 2,000 pages in a massive trove of documents released Friday, but nearly all of the pages appear to be completely redacted.

The redacted appendices filed on the public docket in the case are related to Smith's expansive filing from earlier this month that laid out his fullest picture yet of the case against Trump and Smith's belief that his actions around the 2020 election should not be shielded by presidential immunity.

Following an order from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, redacted appendixes from special counsel Jack Smith's brief arguing Donald Trump is not immune from criminal prosecution in his federal election interference case were made public on Friday.

The redacted appendixes consist of nearly 2,000 pages of evidence that include many redactions. Trump had appealed their release, but Chutkan denied his effort Thursday.

Donald Trump laid the groundwork to try to overturn the 2020 election even before he lost, knowingly pushed false claims of voter fraud and "resorted to crimes" in his failed bid to cling to power, according to a newly unsealed court filing from prosecutors that offers new evidence from the landmark criminal case against the former president.

Judge in Trump 2020 election case unseals more evidence from special counsel
By Kathryn Watson, Melissa Quinn

Updated on: October 18, 2024 / 12:06 PM EDT / CBS News

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-2020-election-case-evidence-unsealed-tanya-chutkan-jack-smith/

The judge overseeing President Donald Trump's 2020 election interference case released more evidence collected by special counsel Jack Smith on Friday, unveiling an enormous batch of heavily redacted records.

The 1,889 pages of material, which Trump's legal team had sought to keep under wraps, constitute four volumes of an appendix that Smith's prosecutors filed alongside a motion over presidential immunity that was unveiled earlier this month. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the case, ordered the unsealing of the redacted appendix last week, but delayed the release to give Trump time to contest her decision.
